about the role
we are currently like to hire a supervisor, coal yard to join our centralia generation team. reporting directly to the manager, operations, as the supevisor you are responsible for supervision of fuel equipment operators in the coal yard. you will also take the lead in the daily management of the conveyor systems, railroad and coal unloading facility, and required to work closely with burlington northern and midland to maximize coal deliveries.
accountabilities / responsibilties
as the supervisor, coal yard you will:
encourage and providing a safe and harassment free workplace for employees
provide leadership and developing the human capital within the coal yard department
lead the daily activities of others in planning and getting work done
emphasis is on the daily operational performance of supervised crew
performs typical supervisory responsibilities such as goal setting, delegating, training, counseling as well as performance evaluation and development
coordinate with vendors and company employees, both union and non union
coordinate the work effort to maintain a steady supply of coal while maintaining the construction portion of the new coal delivery system
perform quality safety inspections and meetings
monitor productivity and making adjustments as necessary
coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure production levels and safety requirements are met
sponsor and facilitating change through recognizing, initiating, supporting and accepting responsibility for change management
monitor and support maintenance work on the coal yard equipment
monitor and look for mechanical and electrical issues with coal yard equipment, submit maintenance notifications with appropriate priorities
other duties as assigned
about you
to be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:
requires working knowledge of safety standards, budgeting, production, and equipment and staff utilization
understanding of the capabilities of coal yard equipment such as heavy equipment (dozer, loader), conveyor systems, rail roads
demonstrated ability to multitask with a variety of issues
excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team
able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
experience with sap, microsoft excel, word and outlook
the following qualifications and/or experience are desirable, but not essential:
5+ years of supervisor experience
