conocophillips is alaska's largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.3 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2020. the company produced an average of 198 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2020. conocophillips has major ownership interests in two of north america's largest oil fields, both located on alaska's north slopeu0026mdash;kuparuk, which the company operates, and prudhoe bay. additionally, conocophillips operates the alpine field and three satellites located on the western north slope. the company has an ownership interest in the trans-alaska pipeline system (taps) and owns/operates the polar tankers fleet.

description

the nsk environmental coordinator air, spill plans and water discharge will lead by example and give full support to the hse policy, goals, efforts and programs of the copa health, safety and environmental management system. provide effective environmental support to north slope operations, and additional support to capital projects, drilling u0026amp; wells, and exploration to maintain excellent environmental stewardship throughout the north slope. develop environmental programs in accordance with corporate, cpai and statutory requirements.

contribute to the development of an excellent hse department by communicating environmental policies and standards to staff; implementing initiatives to improve environmental practice and awareness; and recommending effective environmental management programs.

this position will work a rotating, 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off schedule.

this is a safety sensitive position.

your responsibilities may include:

strong safety leadership and a commitment to developing an incident free culture with north slope operations serving as a technical resource by providing guidance and assistance to the field and coordinating programs to validate compliance with environmental regulations related to: air quality operating permits, federal new source performance standards, spill prevention control and countermeasures (spcc) plans, alaska oil discharge prevention contingency plans (odpcp), alaska pollutant discharge elimination system permits (apdes), spill reporting and prevention, and other related field environmental issues as required identifying environmental risks, issues, and mitigation strategies, and communicating with health, safety u0026amp; environmental (hse) and other internal business partners assessing field activities by conducting onsite audits and site visits to validate environmental compliance. a minimum of 10% of time will be spent doing procedural verifications providing written compliance reports to agencies; representing conocophillips during agency inspections; and maintaining contacts and working relationships with local, state, and federal agency personnel designing and conducting environmental training programs maintaining environmental manuals and key databases participating in the incident management team as the environmental unit leader coordinating facility tours and/or classes for external agency stakeholders assisting with regulatory advocacy efforts focused on permitting-related local, state or federal regulatory initiatives coordinating with operations to promote innovation, ensure implementation, and the continued success of greenhouse gas (ghg) reduction projects for existing operations and future projects. identifying optimization opportunities for existing environmental management systems and practices. perform other work-related duties as assigned

basic/required:

must be legally authorized to work in the united states as a u.s. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, safety, industrial hygiene, environmental sciences or other related discipline or foreign equivalent 5u002b years of environmental permitting and/or compliance experience with emphasis on upstream exploration, production, industrial, or abandonment operations willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off work schedule willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel up to 10% of the time

preferred:

master's degree or higher in environmental engineering or science, biology, geology, or related sciences or foreign equivalent 3u002b years of experience in alaska environmental compliance (air, water, spill prevention and response including spcc) 1u002b years of experience working with external communities and stakeholders 1u002b years of experience working with third-party contractors to cost-effectively achieve business goals 1u002b years of alaska north slope experience 1u002b years of experience in and understanding of environmental regulations and their applicability to upstream oil and gas operations. basic knowledge of alaska local, state and federal environmental and land use regulations (north slope borough, ak dept. of environmental conservation, ak dept. of natural resources, environmental protection agency, and bureau of ocean energy management) including the national environmental policy act and its application to oil and gas projects basic knowledge of project management processes and tools (e.g. project planning, budgeting, prioritization, scheduling, critical path analysis, cost tracking) and decision and risk analysis exceptional leadership, organizational and problem solving skills strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relations with hse and external affairs team members, external stakeholders, internal business partners and natural resource management / regulatory agencies organizational abilities, especially the ability to work many short and long term issues or projects concurrently strong communication (written, oral and formal presentation/powerpoint) skills essential practical self-starter who can work effectively with minimal supervision ability to meet commitments and deliver project results ability to lead and influence others ability to cultivate diverse stakeholder support utilize communications and interpersonal skills to align people and motivate to achieve goals promptly identify, surface, and facilitate resolution of conflicts between project stakeholders builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
