job summary

dominion energy’s environmental group seeks a highly-motivated manager - environmental compliance to support chesterfield power station.  the power station is located about 15 miles south of richmond on the james river, in chesterfield county; the station generates approximately 1400 megawatts and operates multiple environmental facilities.

manages the coordination of and negotiation with local, state, and national regulatory agencies regarding environmental permitting and compliance matters, and for preparation and oversight of reports to internal departments and external agencies establishes processes for ensuring compliance with environmental, chemical and waste management and permit regulations for the power station coordinates with and monitors operations and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with environmental, chemical safety, waste management, wildlife management, rules and regulations. oversees inspections or assessments and provide advice or recommendations regarding compliance issues to management manages the administration and implementation of environmental programs; ensures hazardous waste disposal, provide training to site personnel in the handling of chemicals, waste materials and other procedural requirements evaluate new regulations and coordinate new compliance plans accordingly by working with internal and external stakeholders (dominion energy, corporate environmental group, local, state and federal regulatory agencies, etc.) provide leadership to chemistry and environmental quality staff to facilitate multimedia environmental compliance support, permit support and compliance reporting, and ensure training and tools are provided to implement compliance programs manages capital and o&m budgets and goals perform other duties as requested or assigned.

required knowledge, skills, abilities & experience

experience: minimum 10 years directly related experience in environmental regulations is required (note: a partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; a an advanced degree can count as one year experience)

extensive knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and permitting requirements governing the exploration and production industry. these include spill prevention, control and countermeasure plan preparation and maintenance, wetlands permitting, air permitting, npdes, storm water permitting, norm surveys, solid waste disposal, landfill management and waste management and disposal minimum of 1 years of experience working closely with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal) previous leadership/management experience is required power plant and/or industrial manufacturing experience is preferred candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements inter-relationship skills are also required as well as the ability to work independently must have the ability to make and recommend rational decisions knowledge of computer applications laboratory skills technical writing and mathematical skills ability to conduct site inspections or walk downs on several hundred acres of power station property confidence in public speaking to internal and external stakeholders regarding the environmental impact of chesterfield power station to military applicants: military service members and veterans with a rank of e-5 or higher plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above/below).
