Jt4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the u.s. air force and navy under the joint range technical services contract, better known as j-tech ii. we develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. range position description
• provides mission planning support for test planning working groups, design reviews, and related program activities
• responsible for accurate and timely generation of mission data in support of test and/or operational objectives
• supports test mission briefings
• collaborates in mission planning software development and updates
• identifies mission planning system deficiencies affecting test and operational capabilities.
• conducts training for mission planning team members and aircrew.

working conditions

this position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. there is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. routine travel to remote company work locations may be required.

requirements - education, technical and work experience

a bachelor of science in engineering from an abet-accredited academic institution and 8 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited master of science in engineering and a minimum of 6 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum 4 years of related engineering experience are required for this position. in addition, an engineer iv must possess the following qualifications:
• comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
• knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
• working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• well-developed leadership skills
• ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
• excellent communication and analytical skills
• planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines desired qualifications
• current security+ certification (required to obtain within 180 days of hire)
• experience in the administration and use of joint mission planning system (jmps) software. review project requirements to clarify customer expectations, derive functional requirements, and assess resource requirements
• good computer skills and programming knowledge
• outstanding ability to understand, assemble, and integrate complex test requirements.
