duncaster, a premier life plan community located in bloomfield, ct is seeking a full-time human resources manager to join our team.

the human resources manager is responsible for the day-to-day hr operations including compliance, employee relations, retention, and engagement. this position is also responsible for the administration of human resource policies, procedures, and programs. the human resources manager has oversight of staff responsible for leave management, payroll, benefits, recruiting and talent development.

duties and responsibilities

facilitates and manages employee relations counseling and investigations.ensures compliance with all regulatory reporting and notice requirements.develops and implements programs to promote employee retention and engagement.directs functional related activities within the scope of leave management, payroll, benefits, recruiting and talent development.oversees workers' compensation claims, osha logs and related reporting.evaluates and responds to ada requests.assists with the administration of all benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) plan.assists employees with personnel related matters and refers employee to appropriate sources.assists in the development and implementation of human resource policies.maintains hr system records and audits data to ensure accuracy.develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes on-going and ad-hoc reports pertaining to employee data.identifies and implements new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.maintains compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.performs other related duties as required and assigned.

supervisory responsibility

this position has direct supervisory responsibilities and acts as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department and throughout the organization.



education and experience

bachelor's degree in related field is required.5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position.2 years of supervisory experience is required.phr/sphr or shrm-cp/shrm-scp certification is preferred.must be proficient in utilizing payroll and hris systems (e.g., adp).strong proficiency with the microsoft office suite (e.g., word, excel, outlook).understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.good working knowledge of employment and labor laws.aptitude in problem-solving.desire to work as a team with a results driven approach.must possess excellent organizational and time management skills. ability to handle multiple tasks with changing deadlines.enjoys working independently and accurately with highly detailed information.demonstrates discretion and judgment necessary to work with sensitive and confidential data.demonstrates the flexibility and professionalism to thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment.excellent verbal and written communication skills with a background in customer service.
