department details

this position is a 8 hour float position in the clinic and hospital setting. start times can vary from 5a-1:30p, 6a-2:30p, 7a-3:30p, 8a-5p, 1p-9:30p, 2-10:30p and 2:30-11p. this position has a weekend obligation which takes place in the hospital on evening shift. start time for weekend shifts are 2-10:30 or 2:30-11. this position can be a senior laboratory assistant, lab assistant or a pathology technician. this positions primary focus is drawing and collecting biological specimens from patients.

job summary

responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing specimens biological specimens. assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks. aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. may be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment.

qualifications

high school diploma or general educational development diploma (ged) required.

completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. may be required to have basic life support (bls) certification.
