we have many great opportunities in the commercial airplanes washington design center, as a structural analysis engineer. open positions are available for our developmental airplane programs including our 777-x freighter version as well as development on our next new airplane, as well we have many opportunities on our existing airplane programs including the 737, 767, 777, and 787. areas where you can aspire to start and grow your career include wing, fuselage, empennage, doors, propulsion structures, and landing gear.  there are also positions in structures core which supports testing, internal loads, allowables development, interior/system stress, and product development.

primary responsibilities:

develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-d computer aided design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.works under general direction.

the position must meet export control compliance requirements, therefore a “us person” as defined by 22 c.f.r. § 120.15 is required. “us person” includes us citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

basic qualifications (required skills/ experience):

bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following engineering majors. mechanical, aerospace, civil, or material science (with composite focus), and select structures degrees.5 or more years’ of experience in aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes.5 or more years’ in aircraft system or structures design.experience using catia v5 and enovia.

preferred qualifications (desired skills/experience):

5 or more years’ of experience working with structures design or stress analysis related work statements.experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).experience in airplane design, stress analysis, liaison engineering, manufacturing engineering strongly preferred.experience with boeing 7-series aircraft primary structures is desired.strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.

typical education/experience:

education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. phd, master +3 years' related work experience). in the usa, abet accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
