job overview

pst is currently seeking an inventory specialist. this position will be based out of the pst facility located in orangeburg, ny and report into operations. the inventory specialist is responsible for inventory control operations to ensure business objectives are met in a safe and efficient manner. the role will require collaboration across internal and external functions to ensure inventory accuracy and that materials are in the right place at the right time. the candidate will have demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities, participate on project teams, complete process mapping and develop policy/procedures. this position will also have responsibility for implementing and maintaining the systems that facilitate the movement of material through the operation. this is a “hands-on” role with the expectation that the incumbent will help with activities and transactions on an as needed basis.

primary responsibilities

functional accountabilities

manage the collection process of all production manufacturing scrap/biproduct and returned materials for recycling. responsible for ensuring inventory records and transaction activities associated with movement of material are accurately recorded in oracle. manage daily inventory cycle count activities and provide accurate posting of results. investigate and correct discrepancies in reported quantities and locations of all inventory lead annual physical inventory audit per company guidelines implement and maintain warehouse and stock room controls including physical layout efficiencies. categorize and optimize inventory locations based on material type, velocity, etc. ensure proper and safe storage. identify and manage slow moving and obsolete inventory and coordinate with operations and sales to find alternate outlets/usage. assess inventory output on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to identify trends in productivity support operations on recommending replenish points for raw material to avoid insufficiencies or excessive surplus. data collection on optimal inventory levels for high volume product lines. analyze data to anticipate future needs and necessary safety stock. lead initiatives to improve inventory tracking system optimization and inventory control procedures.

provide support to the logistics team with stock room, shipping and receiving transactions involved with operations on continuous improvement projects lead others in safe work practices facilitate productive communication with procurement, finance, logistics and manufacturing. report to upper management on stock levels, issues etc. collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met create detailed reports for adjustments, inventory operations and stock levels

required qualifications

minimum of 5 to 7 years combined experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory control, or warehouse management.

proficient in standard logistics and inventory software.

candidate should have strong problem solving, effective communication and organizational skills to be successful in this role
