we have a direct-hire opportunity for a senior accountant at our merrimack valley client.

qualifications

highly motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly while meeting deadlinesexcellent time and task management skills as evidenced by a proven ability to efficiently and effectively handle multiple tasks at the same time as well as appropriate delegationability to communicate and problem solve in a high transaction environmentattention to detail and accuracyability to handle confidential information with discretionhighly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently and be proactive with approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilitybachelor's degree in accounting or finance3-5 years experience as a staff accountant or equivalent position, preferably in a nonprofit finance settingstrong knowledge of computer software including microsoft office, especially microsoft excel (pivot tables - vlookups).experience in peachtree financial software.experience in accounting and automated financial reporting systemsability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections

responsibilities

the senior accountant will join a highly effective finance team of three membersthe primary functions include preparing and reviewing accounting entries, reconciliation of accounts, preparing and verifying journal entries, and reviewing weekly payables and receivablesamong other duties, the senior accountant will assist with weekly transactions, monthly closings, account analysis and general administrative support as neededthe candidate will work collaboratively with the development and grants administration team and other departments to ensure fiscal excellence agency widereview and approve the recording of contributions (gifts), including committing the gift batches and producing acknowledgement reports regularlyensure all gift backup documentation is attached to gift batchesreview and post gift entry batches in accounting softwareproduce reports, as requested, related to gifts and grantsreview accounts payable postings for accuracy on a weekly basisprovide analysis and reconciliation for fund balances and quarterly feesassist with quarterly and year-end closingscommunicate and interface with other departments to ensure accuracy and operational efficiency
