job summary

in this role you’ll be a business facing analyst on medline’s enterprise analytics / machine learning team.

you’ll work closely with business stakeholders to understand problems in their areas that can be solved with ai, articulate these in technical terms for data scientists, help frame the right experiments, analyze outcomes of ml models, and present findings to all stakeholders in a way that enables decision making.

this role requires a mix of strong business comprehension, data analysis, and delivery management skills and some familiarity with foundations of machine learning.

(though we are currently working remote due to covid, this position will be based in our northfield, il headquarters once we return to the office.  this individual will be required to work in the northfield office 3 days per week, and may work from the office or remotely the other 2 days). 

major responsibilities

work with business leaders and convert functional requirements into technical specifications for the team analyze the business problem at hand through the lens of data. requires strong data analysis skills, and decent familiarity with the stack of sql, alteryx, tableau, and advanced excel. work with data scientists to ensure the right machine learning experiments are being framed, i.e. null/alternate hypothesis, clear definition of the dependent variable, business relevance of potential independent variables, and metrics to measure error and success conduct regression, and what-if analysis as part of model development measure the efficacy of machine learning models by testing them from a user’s perspective, and analyzing outcomes convert business analysis and model results into presentations with key insights and recommendations for all stakeholders, enabling effective decision making   participate in cross functional planning of model deployment with different is teams like architecture, bi, application teams, etc., and keep business informed create tableau dashboards to track impact of models and detect drift on ongoing basis, once they are operationalized

education

bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field; or equivalent work experience

work experience:

1 or more years as a business facing data analyst/data savvy business analyst role within sales & operations related areas

advanced data analysis skills using sql, alteryx, tableau and excel

foundationally strong understanding of data structures

ability to create compelling power point presentations, and presenting at the executive level

 

knowledge / skills / abilities

experience analyzing large datasets to draw intelligent insights

demonstrated proficiency for complex problem solving

strong communication skills and willingness to take initiative to contribute beyond basic responsibilities along with the ability to effectively present to the target audience

ability to learn on the job, esp. technical skills around python for data analysis and creating fundamental statistical models

ability to test and document end-to-end processes

proficient in ms office suite (word, excel, powerpoint, access, visio) software

experience data analysis packages within python or r (numpy, scipy, pandas, matplotlib, seaborn), or with stats tools like sas a plus.

familiarity with python, or a similar object oriented programming language a plus.
