what you'll do: as a customer service representative, you will join a team of 12 to provide top-notch customer service to customers through the life insurance contact center by creating and maintaining a positive relationship with agents and farm bureau member policyholders while providing prompt service, education, and processing. this is a call center environment, where you will be answering inbound phone calls during your workday. in this role, you will be responsible for responding to questions concerning multiple types of life policies in a call center environment. you will spend the majority of your day on the phone with our agents and policyholders. you will also compose and send letters/emails to policy holders and agents in response to inquiries.

what it takes to join our team:

• associates degree or equivalent required. life insurance product and policy knowledge is extremely beneficial, however, we do offer an excellent on the job training program.

• exceptional customer service skills are required, including strong verbal communication and business professional writing skills.

• ability to spend almost 100% of your workday on the telephone.

• must have flexibility to organize and process work to meet farm bureau standards with limited supervision under tight deadlines.

• analytical, problem solving and organizational skills required in addition to the ability to learn company products, processes and systems.

• must be pc literate and able to effectively use our systems. familiarity with outlook, microsoft word and excel is preferred.

• fingerprinting required.

• must be able to work our business hours of 8am-4:30pm monday through friday from our office in west des moines, ia.
