Training instructor - united states, floriano

develops and conducts technical training courses on one or more short courses in a technical trade or craft and maintains credentials to meet local, state, and federal specialized certification requirements.

specific duties:

· under general supervision conduct group and one-on-one training

· use recognized consensus standards and practices to plan, deliver and evaluate training

· develop and / or evaluate training aids

· maintain and use training equipment

· maintain classroom facilities in a manner conducive to learning

· review and interpret federal, state, and local regulations and nasa standards to determine training requirements

· analyze task requirements to determine education and training

· assist customer with training needs assessment

· assist customer to develop certification and ojt requirements

· develop learning objectives and criterion referenced tests

· council students who fail to meet training standards and recommend a course of action to supervisors

· participate with peer groups to develop training standards and milestones.

· consult with management to ensure adequacy of training

· teach assigned topics in accordance with approved curriculum effectively utilizing all allotted time

· maintain proficiency in instructional techniques

· incorporate current examples in the teaching process

· work with subject matter experts to develop and revise curriculum to ensure accurate content and format

· select or develop instructional aids, such as handouts, reference materials, or audio/visual supports

· create teaching outlines in accordance with established guidelines

· maintain records and statistical information on employee training

· monitor training programs by reviewing and analyzing student course evaluations

· make recommendations to management on course improvement customer training needs

·         undergraduate degree preferred or equivalent professional experience

·         instructor experience in industrial training activities such as dot, epa or osha. preferred teaching certificate in at least one of these specialities

·         at least three year’s experience in one of the following disciplines is mandatory: safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science or compliance, emergency preparedness, or life support / mechanical shop lead / supervision

·         applicant must have completed a recognized course (either civilian or military) in instructional fundamentals and instructional development. such courses include but are not limited to; academic instructor course, technical instructor course, national safety council’s safety training management, designing and delivering effective training (neshta), or instructor training through a recognized college or university.

·         ability to use standard office products (powerpoint, word, and excel) is mandatory

·         individual certification as a certified environmental safety and health trainer cet is highly desirable

·         professional credentials as a csp, cih, cit, chmm, cep, rep, or osht, is also highly desirable

·         completion of osha 500 /501 outreach trainer for construction / general industry is desirable

·         completion of osha 222, respiratory protection is desirable

·         helpful to have background in: cryogenics, high pressure gasses, osha first responder awareness, excavation / trenching and shoring, two-way radio communication, operational intercommunications system (ois-m), electrical safety, hazardous communications, scaffolding, confined space, ppe, overhead cranes/rigging, forklifts/aerial lifts/skid-steer loader, lo/to, fire safety and basic extinguisher use, fall protection, hazmat, tank and confined spaces, pressurized vessels, ois-m, respirators
