to design, develop, and evaluate training programs (curricula), courses, and assessments to meet the needs of dealer service personnel of caterpillar products and solutions.

job duties: the incumbent identifies training needs, designs, develops, evaluates, and prepares the training. the incumbent provides guidance regarding course modalities, course content, types of media to be used, and skill levels. the incumbent will provide counsel and guidance regarding curriculum development and training design for caterpillar dealer service, sales, and leadership training programs.

partners with business units to conduct in-depth job/task analysis to identify business goals, competencies, instructional objectives, and determine training solutions.

partners with business units to conduct the overall planning, designing, and development of assessments to measure career development before, during, and after training.

participates in curriculum innovation, design, and research to ensure the development and maintenance of the highest quality learning programs for dealer personnel.

assists in periodically analyzing existing competency maps and matrices to make recommendations to fill any gaps discovered.

defines and documents course learning objectives. 

determines appropriate media and technology for course delivery.

reviews internally produced content and resources to ensure adherence to development standards and industry best practices.

reviews externally produced content and works with vendors to produce content to ensure consistency and quality standards are met.

works with subject matter experts to evaluate the effectiveness and recommends changes regarding course design and course delivery.

this position keeps abreast of training trends and available resources and makes recommendations on 'best value' programs. 

basic qualifications:

position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university or 8 plus years of job-related instructional design experience.

hands-on experience with instructional design principles

adult learning methodologies

superior organizational, communications, relationship building, and project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads, and prioritize tasks.


top candidates will also have:

able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.

proven competency in launching and delivering multiple projects/programs. 

ability to handle upper-level dealer and business unit contact.

this position requires 5-15% travel.
