we are seeking motivated and versatile individuals to join our team, working with a key customer at their remote mine site. this role’s roster will align to that of our customers and may adjust based on which project you are currently focused on. as part of our onboarding process, you will go through a robust training program where you will learn all aspects of system operation, troubleshooting and application of autonomy to a mining environment. once you complete this training program, you will be well-positioned to support our customers in maintaining and optimising system performance.

with a global company like caterpillar, there are international opportunities available. minestar® fleet and command for underground is utilized in two different continents and has support facilities all over the world. training and operational experience is enriched by global site visits and international collaboration.

once you complete your training program, your job duties may include (but not limited to):

responsible at their assigned mine site(s) for all minestar initiated productivity and safety activities.

responsible for the safe operation of minestar software and hardware on their assigned mine site.

responsible for working with customers to monitor overall fleet/detect/command performance and safe operations.

responsible to notify minestar product support of any suspected product defects.  work collaboratively with minestar product support to define interim corrective actions that mitigate the impact of fleet/detect/command product performance issues.

responsible to maintain key site performance metrics including fleet/detect/command technology availability, production metrics, operating cost per tonne, autonomous fleet productivity and safety.

responsible to perform training record audits ensuring that customer personnel has received the adequate training to operate fleet/detect/command safely.

responsible for compliance with all caterpillar and minestar policies and procedures.

responsible to communicate all significant fleet/detect/command related incidents to caterpillar management as required based on the minestar significant incident playbook.

responsible to participate in safety inquiries, safety meetings, and site safety programs as required.

responsible to participate in workplace autonomous loader related inspections as required.

responsible to recommend and implement their minestar site application best practices and processes.

responsible to optimize minestar fleet/detect/command configurations and settings.

responsible for coordination of site minestar activities for minestar’s customer enhancement projects.

act as a consultant to our dealer and customer when requested, supporting minestar product support’s product problem management and equipment management activities.

training program is tailored to the individual, which may include 2 x 4 weeks class room training and on the job training and mentoring over a 6 to 12 month period.

most application specialist work an 8/6 fifo or dido roster

to be successful in this role, you will require the following attributes:  

university degree in mining engineering

2-5 years post graduate operational experience

ready for a new challenge

passionate about technology with some technical exposure

excellent interpersonal skills

strong analytical and problem-solving skills

ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment

strong change management skills

attention to detail

mining experience

customer relationship management

data analytics

must be a self-starter with sound organisation and prioritising skills

the following will be highly regarded, but not essential:

qualifications/experience in, it, mining or similar working backgrounds

knowledge of mining technology products and product applications, including fleet management systems
