the  product support and logistics division (psld)  is one of the most innovative divisions within caterpillar. in psld, as within all of caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. we touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. psld is responsible for aftermarket parts distribution of cat parts, integrated logistics, segment procurement and the design and manufacture of wear components (undercarriage and get) and maintenance components (seals, tubes & hardware, hose & couplings, fluids and filters).

the manufacturing project engineer must have the ability to draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product and/or process, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, and requirements management; as well as the ability to draw upon knowledge of more than one engineering function, technology, component, system, product, or process.  ever increasing skill in technical project management, development of product, internal and external requirements management, and cost-value management are also required. project engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and understanding of the customers’ needs and application of the product or process, as well as keeping up with technology.

job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

provides leadership in the implementation of integrated technologies within the factory

organizing and execution of ppaps for multiple parts and material types

perform process improvement activities to reduce material and processing costs

work closely with design, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing teams

develop and implement processes in line with caterpillar standard processes

managing other manufacturing engineering, npi, or development projects as time and resources allow

lead 5-year plan for capital investment for the facility

basic qualifications:

bachelor’s degree and 5+ years relevant work experience; in lieu of degree, 5+ years of additional relevant work experience

proven leadership skills

top candidates will also have:

bachelor’s, or higher degree in engineering discipline

operations, manufacturing engineering, and/or project management experience

experience with lean manufacturing implementation

experience working in a foundry environment

good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
