principal technical consultant will support the us system drives packaging business by helping to develop our consulting business strategy to drive growth and be in line with our sustainability goals supporting the world’s energy transformation, helping to define and lead sales consulting activities, working with senior level technical resources in customer organizations to provide strategic coaching and solution development, and support complex contract negotiations within motion business area in houston, texas. the position holder will also develop complex technical and commercial proposals for strategic accounts in target segments, recognize and manage risks within proposed solutions, and represent the organization in communications and industry conferences pertaining to broad aspects of the business.

your responsibilities

lead development, alignment, and delivery of consultancy products and services to support the business and meet customer needs in line with abb’s sustainability goals in support of the world’s energy transformation. provides technical guidance as well as contributes directly to the development of complex solutionsestablish and maintain technical contacts at director levels in customer organizations and provide strategic coaching and solutions, support sales with solution development and proposals, and support contract negotiations. supports specification influencing activities for global projects with technical presentations, engineering support, and product positioningcreate cost estimates as part of solution development to support providing competitive solutionsidentify risks resulting from consultancy products and services as well as customer requirements and proposed solutions and ensures actions are taken to mitigate and control those riskscoach and help develop the system drives team consulting skills and acts as a role model for technical leadership. develop relationships with external organizations and represents the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of consulting assignmentsstudy various advanced sources and proposes solutions for development of new processes and tools. lead in creation of new processes and tools to increase engineering effectiveness of the business



your background

university degree in electrical engineering with 10+ years business experience in related areas; e.g. sales, product engineering, technical support, application engineering, test engineering.expert technical knowledge about medium voltage ac drives and applications. commercial astuteness.should be open to travel (20-30%) as per business needscandidates must have a work authorization that would permit them to work for abb in the usa
