full-time sennie (sen governess/teacher/tutor) for twins (b12 & b12) & g10

additional needs present:

autism; learning difficulties, pathological demand avoidance (pda) & sensory processing condition

location: godalming, surrey

wage / salary: £29,500 - £40,000 gross per annum if you have extensive experience as a qualified teacher/working as governess/governor/tutor and have a great understanding of autism/pda/sld and anxiety, then a higher salary can be discussed/negotiated. this must be discussed with sennies, prior to an introduction. if an offer is made and this has not been discussed previously, there will be no negotiations beyond the maximum salary offer above.

driver: essential - car available to use on duty with children

live in/out: live in during ‘working weeks’ the selected sennie must have their own accommodation in place as they will need to live out when on annual leave - belongings can stay at the property if required. the family will also consider live out candidates, but they must be within an acceptable commute from the home.

accommodation details: own bedroom in a separate annexe (own entrance) includes wifi, tv, shower room and access to the shared kitchen (shared with the grandmother only). bed, wardrobe, armchair and dressing table included.

days & hours: term time monday - friday or monday to saturday (sat am only)

max 45 hours per week (often less) hours worked between 7 am - 7 pm.

term time: 36 working weeks

(16 weeks holidays per year taken during children’s school holidays)

the weekly schedule will be discussed and agreed upon in advance to best support the children.

start date: earliest after easter holidays-latest september

essential skills/traits:

● 2+ years of experience working with children who have sen (particularly pda/autism) and anxiety.

● university degree with qts or pgce or norland ba (early years, primary or secondary background considered or norland ba)

● prior experience or a keen interest in teaching children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia

● previous experience teaching children on a 1-1 basis within a school or home setting ● very patient, warm, kind and calm ● imaginative and creative in teaching style

● ability to work in a team (with mum as the leader who has worked as an au pair, nanny, teacher, advisory teacher, home educator over the last 27 years) ● ability to allow a child to lead their learning experience and adapt to follow their interests

● confident driver with a clean licence

● ability to make everything into a learning experience

● ability to play and support learning/play activities - games, lego, cooking, gardening etc

● adaptability and flexibility ● happy to be part of ‘family team’

● willingness to learn, take guidance, try new approaches

● open-hearted, active and fun-loving

● ability to swim

● interests, specialist subjects and expertise that are willing to share and bring to the home ed program

● ability to support learning for all three children

● complete confidentially

about the role/family: sennies is excited to support a family in godalming to find a passionate sennie with qualified teacher status, to support them in home education for one of their wonderful children. they live in a beautiful countryside location in surrey, on the edge of a historic market town, with easy access (20 min walk) to the train station (direct links to london and guildford). dad works from home, and mum is currently implementing the home education program for b12(twin 1). the family are open to meeting newly qualified teachers as well as highly skilled/experienced teachers as mum will be leading the home education operation, and the salary will be in line with the selected sennies prior experience and qualifications. securing high-quality support would significantly improve the family dynamic, and they welcome additional expertise in a subject or interest that could enhance the home education program. the family like to provide a low demand environment, ensure all their children feel heard/valued and do not try to change who they are. they have found explanation, preparation, patience, empathy and time all work wonders and have helped their children thrive!
