support worker for disabled children/young people - south gloucestershire

kids is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.

we work with children, from birth through to 25 years. last year we supported over 11,800 disabled children and worked with about 60 local authorities across england.

we are passionate, caring and trusted and our vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations. we offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.

about the role

we are currently looking for someone to engage with disabled children and young people. together you will be working towards independence and inclusion by engaging in a range of fun activities.

short breaks are on a 1:1 basis in the community and in a child or young person's home. our breaks are designed around the child or young person and their interests and hobbies, so during a break you may take a child swimming, to a local park, or perhaps to the shops.

flexible hours available to suit your current employment/personal circumstances. the hours are mainly evenings, weekends and school holidays. you will be working in the areas of south gloucestershire and north bristol dependent on what you can do and what we can provide.

the hourly rate is gbp10.12 per hour plus you accrue an extra gbp1.22 per hour holiday pay.

about you

we are looking for caring, passionate and enthusiastic individuals to support disabled children and young people on a 1:1 basis in the area of south gloucestershire and north bristol.

to be able to carry out this role we would hope for you to have the following characteristics:

o experience of working with disabled children is desirable but not essential.

o demonstrate an understanding of the needs of disabled children and young people and a commitment to safeguarding.

o confident social skills.

o ability to work on your own and use initiative.

o available to work regular evenings and weekends.

o eager to learn new skills.

o attend training that can further your career.

due to travel involved in this role it is preferred that candidates have a driving licence and access to a car.
