adecco is currently assisting a local client in their search to fill a human resource specialist position. 

 

location: houston, tx

pay: $40.00/hr

assignment length: six months

role summary/purpose

the hr specialist will provide all facets of hr support for the houston distribution center and provide strategic partnership with the business unit leader. this role will be critical in working across the site and more broadly across the freight global services supply chain to proactively identify and execute on organizational priorities and drive culture change.

essential responsibilities

  • serve as active business partner for the operating entity. provide guidance and support for full suite of hr functions, including talent management, performance management, organizational change, policy and process implementation, employee relations, compensation & benefits, and facilitating team performance.
  • partner with business management to develop appropriate human resource plans in support of key business needs in a dynamic environment and develop / implement appropriate change management plans as required. including recruiting, selection, as well as restructuring, and reduction of the workforce as needed.
  • oversee labor relations for the site.
  • serve as the hr leader for the site and partner with manager to drive organization-wide initiatives and engage with the plant leadership team to further hr and organizational objectives.
  • provide coaching, advice, council, and support for leadership, managers, employees and peers.
  • act as an impartial advocate to ensure that all individuals receive fair and equitable treatment.
  • qualifications / requirements

  • bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • at least 2 additional years of experience in a variety of human resource positions both staff and client based
  •  

    desired characteristics

  • prior labor relations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • prior hr experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • ability to influence & engage at all levels of the business
  • demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects and drive change
  • strong coaching skills
