job summary

we are a pentecostal christian church in west yorkshire, a parish of the redeemed christian church of god (rccg) worldwide. we need a vibrant, motivated, and inspirational person with an in-depth understanding of the christian doctrine and redeemed christian church of god’s values, to lead the church instrumentalist. this individual will be self-motivated, non-judgemental, honest, and to inspire and involve young people with a love of learning and making music. more so, to have ability of playing various musical instruments, such as piano, organ, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, etc.

responsibilities

coordinate efforts with the church choir and create shows worthy of the church’s standing and stature.
to play one or more musical instruments in recital, in accompaniment, and as members of an orchestra, band, or other musical group.
read and interpret sheet music quickly and accurately during rehearsal.
direct choirs and orchestras so that they can perform according to practice sessions.
to play musical instruments as soloists, or choir with bands in a variety of settings such as live performances, in a recording studio or concerts.
to coordinate instrumentalists and work with other church department to make a musical piece and musical background for church drama, theatre, and other performances
ascertain that all church instruments are cleaned and maintained on a daily basis and put away properly.
to support the vision and strategic aims of the parish pastor.

qualification and skills requirements

essential qualification

innate musical talent
4 years’ experience of playing at least 2 instruments in a pentecostal church setting
knowledge of musical conducting, rehearsal techniques, transpositions, and the ability to read printed music
proficient understanding of different musical styles
genuine interest in working with youth and children
knowledge and understanding of rccg doctrines.
in-depth knowledge of rccg traditional hymns and in modern praise music
be fluent in english, and at least one other language
good communication skills – both verbal and written
good interpersonal skills
be a pentecostal christian
a team player with a positive attitude.
must possess excellent it skills
good working knowledge of the bible
good stage manner and ability to interact with audience

desirable qualification

university degree
2 or 3 a levels including music, or equivalent qualifications
grade 8 main instrument
