fawkes and reece are now assisting in the search for a quantity surveyor to join a leading tier 1 main contractor out of their bristol office.
the contractor is one which works across the education, healthcare, commercial and residential sectors with projects valuing anywhere up to £100mil and across jct and nec forms of contract. they're looking for a quantity surveyor who can play the role of number 2 on a large project and (as a package surveyor) or commercially lead a smaller one.
as quantity surveyor, your duties will include but not be limited to:
pre-contract:
attending pre-commencement / pre-contract meetingsattend meetings regarding all financial control procedures associated with the design development to ensure the recording of perceived risks and opportunities in the bid as required.
post contract:
financial reporting and controlcontinually monitor and review, in detail costs and values of the works at hand.commercial forecastingensure that the financial reports are produced and submitted in line with the company's reporting timetable.attend regular review and commercial control meetings.liaise closely with the design and project management leads to ensure cross controlmanagement of riskmanagement of contract variationscontract review and production meetingsmain contract and external valuations and final accountsmanagement of consultants and subcontractorsfeedback to the commercial manager of any price elements or unit prices which are considered to be seriously at variance with cost, giving details of shortfall.provide constructive comments on improving efficiency
the ideal quantity surveyor will have:
a construction related degree/equivalent qualificationmain contractor backgroundexperience running projects valued up to £30milexperience working as number 2 on a large project
