position overview 

provide customer technical service and process and product metallurgy support for our operations and products.  provide technical support for the sales and operations departments.  process and product quality improvement.

essential job functions

sales support

review inquiries and incoming orders

provide technical support for customers

review claims and material specifications

develop new product lines

review and investigate claims, write claims resolution reports

operations support

develop manufacturing plans and procedures

optimize production processes; issue process change requests

analyze rejects and non-conformities

qa/qc functions

develop qc test plans for orders

review test results for acceptability

release orders for shipment

maintain written procedures

oversee materials testing functions – chemical, mechanical, ntd

assist qa manager with internal audits

record/review release orders

process consistency improvement

product quality improvement

direct efforts of lab technicians on specific matters.

requirements

metallurgical experience in a steel mill environment

experience in stainless and hi-temperature materials

bs material science and engineering or metallurgy

other skills/abilities

computer proficiency

strong analytical, statistical, and communication skills

problem solving and performance improvement (design of experiments, lean, six sigma, 8d, etc.)

statistical process control and statistical analysis
