we are looking for a keen person to compliment our friendly team. this person could be an experienced furniture designer, a cnc operator or a keen and reliable school leaver. a wide range of people could be valuable to our business, we would be very happy to meet you to discuss how we can work together.

we offer excellent opportunities to learn cnc operation, programming and preparation. our daily cutting work involves regular repeat work and an exciting variety of one off designs of functional or artworks. you will join our team of engineers, designers and finishers. there are many opportunities to learn and expand your experience and to advance with our company.

cel offers other services such as fulfilment to a variety of local small businesses using a network of couriers. this connects our cnc products and those of our customers to a wide audience via a range of web based shops.

ideally we expect this to be a full time position, usually working monday-friday but there is potential for flexibility. immediate start preferred. this position is based in portishead, north somerset. pay based on experience.

main tasks:

planning and running cnc programs.
finishing parts as required to complete orders including sanding, varnishing and cleaning.
receiving materials, storing and maintaining stock levels, mostly timber laminates.
preparing workspaces to complete daily cutting and finishing jobs.
maintaining tools and machinery.
quality control and packing complete orders.

you must have:

attention to detail.
commitment to quality, safety and reliability.
strength and ability to move and handle materials and equipment. this is not a desk job, you will be moving between tasks all day.
ability to follow written and verbal instruction and be clever enough to spot and resolve problems and to work independently when required.
time management to ensure work is completed on schedule.

knowledge and experience which will be useful in this role but can be gained on the job:

furniture design.
powered hand tools such as drills, sanders, saws and routers.
basic hand tools.
workshop machinery like a drill press, chop saw or lathe.
cnc machining.
materials identification, handling and storage.
operation of forklift.
building and carpentry skills.
safe working practices.
