Electronics applications engineer - united kingdom, swindon, wiltshire

we have a vacancy for an electronics application engineer to work for an international machinery manufacturer in swindon. the hours of monday 7.30am - 4.30pm and 7.30am - 12.45pm on a friday. the salary for this role is gbp25k, benefits include 25 days annual holiday plus statutory, company pension scheme.

job summary:

coordinating with the development, quality, manufacturing and commercial functions of the business you will translate product specifications into working prototypes. you will manage your own workload to complete ctrs and laboratory testing within timescales required, monitoring and providing feedback on your progress whilst being prepared to proactively communicate exceptions to these timescales and related project plans if necessary.

your duties:

1. to work collaboratively with the technical teams to develop hardware solutions, performing relevant calculations, associated simulations and tests to deliver robust, innovative designs to ctr requirements.

2. to work collaboratively with the technical teams to ensure analogue and digital electronic circuits deliver robust, innovative technical solutions with sound theoretical basis.

3. to ensure that designs meet emc and lvd requirements, carrying out relevant product development, testing and debugging.

4. to understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues and performance criteria in order to develop, demonstrate and carry out robust product functionality tests.

5. to assist the business with identifying existing product or application issues and then delivering robust, proven solutions.

6. to undertake performance, vibration, acoustic noise and emc testing.

7. to construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams.

8. to ensure timely completion of assigned ctrs and tasks.

skills & knowledge required:

1. minimum 2:1 relevant honours degree qualification with electronic circuit design experience.

2. schematic capture, simulation, pcb layout and circuit testing for product design, emc and lvd.

3. hands-on design, testing, fault finding and debugging of smps, power electronics, control algorithms and associated analogue / digital electronic hardware in an embedded controls environment.

4. embedded 'c' and assembler code development and maintenance using related tool chains.

5. practical and technical knowledge of electromechanical principles and laboratory disciplines

6. proven ability to work to deadlines in an industrial environment

7. experience of a hands-on approach to prototype realisation and assembly
