we are currently recruiting for a head of engagement for the cereals & oilseeds sector. this high-profile role has responsibility for the development and delivery of our farmer and industry engagement and knowledge exchange activities in the cereals & oilseeds sector. the successful candidate will act as a vital link between ahdb and the sector.

a proven track record of effective relationship building is a must for this role, as is having the confidence to engage a wide range of stakeholders including growers, processors, government and other organisations and professionals throughout the supply chain.

leading a team of experts across the uk, the role is field based therefore flexibility to travel is essential along with proven leadership skills and expertise in this sector.

work closely with cereals & oilseeds sector council and director - stakeholder engagement to contribute to successful delivery of the sector strategy, whilst maintaining and developing partnerships with key stakeholders across the cereals & oilseeds industry

develop and maintain a strong profile and connection with the sector, providing industry representation where required to government committees, industry groups as well as commentating, networking, and building supply chain relationships

engage with and understand sector needs and the knowledge exchange landscape for the cereals & oilseeds sector (nationally and internationally)

be seen as a point of contact for the sector with sector chair, council members and external stakeholders for matters relating to the engagement teams area of activity

provide operational and line management of all staff within the cereals & oilseeds engagement team, including direct line management of senior staff

work with the director - stakeholder engagement to set fair and meaningful kpis for engagement and knowledge exchange within the cereals & oilseeds sector

ensure there are proactive feedback mechanisms from levy payer facing activity which feed into ahdb priorities and strategy

substantial experience and technical knowledge within the cereals & oilseeds sector and its stakeholder organisations, and ideally hold a relevant degree or qualification in agricultural or related discipline

a skilled communicator with a proven track record of delivering effective farmer and industry engagement activity and presenting to senior industry audiences

accomplished results driven manager with experience of setting stretch operational objectives and motivating teams to achieve targets

competent working with government agencies and commercial organisations to develop business opportunities

capable of managing significant budgets to high levels of governance

proven experience in developing and delivering strategic plans

flexibility to travel as part of the role
