The overnight assistant program director position will be responsible for operations during the overnight hours 9:00pm -9:00am with potential rotating days off. this position will account for the oversight and coordination of the milieu, staff and safety during these hours. the assistant program director will work with existing staff at each established program to ensure each program and its staff is utilizing the policies, procedures and requirements for a safe operation. this includes providing communication for the oncoming shift and or program management team of any irregular or concerns from the previous evening.

essential job functions*
 on shift management of program milieu including behavior management system.
 provide on-call service from 9p-9a on scheduled work days.
 provide unannounced visits alternating between all programs served by youth services.
 review bed check logs from the previous shift – address any concerns and share any missing information with the program director.
 ensure communication log entries are being entered timely and are current to reflect the location of residents and/or concerns happening.
 address any issues with communication log entries to what is really happening with the staff in the moment and share the concerns with their supervisor.
 facilitate in the moment coaching opportunities to address any process or policy failures by staff.
 obtain a clear and concise understanding of all youth service policies and staff job responsibilities.
 attend weekly supervision (face time) with the supervisor.
 preference to attend a minimum of one monthly leadership meeting (when feasible), may choose to attend additional leadership meetings.
 ability to work with youth or youth and families and staff in a changing setting.
 required to use personal vehicle, when centerboard vehicle is not available in order to meet aftercare outreach requirements.
 work with the program director and hr to facilitate any corrective action.
 provide leadership and act as a role model for direct care staff and residents.
 provide support and guidance to the adolescent staff.
 ensure new staff is properly oriented to the program(s) and continue to train existing staff.
 assure that all quality of life standards are maintained including: medication administration, dietary, hygiene, clothing, and facility maintenance/cleanliness and vehicle safety.
 review daily communication log, incident reports and internal investigations when appropriate; consult with the program director on incidents.
 comply at all times with federal, state and local regulations and licensing requirements.
 maintain open communication and support with all direct care staff including training and coaching/counseling.
 complete other duties required.

competencies and qualifications
the skill set required for this overnight assistant program director position will be different skills than those required of an assistant program director assigned to support one specific program. this positon requires a level of leadership to execute the essential job functions. this position will offer a waiver of the ba degree. as the overnight assistant program director this position does not immediately hold the skills to transition to another open assistant program director and would require additional training and interview for any openings.

the position is required to obtain medication administration certification no later than six months after being assigned the role and must possess a valid driver’s license . qualifications also include the ability to communicate with various levels within the organization as well as provide written and oral means of communication.

preparation, skills & trainings required
must pass initial competency evaluation as well as continued assessments of professional development and future trainings. required trainings include cpr/first aid, dynamics of a crisis including physical restraint training, medication administration, orientation training, hipaa, osha, ethics and boundaries, trauma informed care/collaborative proactive solutions and any other related trainings offered by centerboard, inc.
participate in outside trainings assigned as required.
required skills include the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively/professionally, and work in a changing environment.
all employees are required to attend refresher training to maintain certification compliance and to exemplify competency of skills for each of the trainings.

supervisory responsibility (if applicable)
• audit overnight shifts at individual programs on an alternating schedule.
• monitor the cleanliness, safety and security of each physical building and grounds, assuring both regular and emergency repairs are reported via the smart sheet system
• monitor the program property, including staff keys, cell phones, vehicles and that all agency property is well maintained and in good repair.
• review overnight paperwork and documentation, report discrepancies or failures to the director of youth services and the program directors. receive supervision weekly with directory of youth services, provide supervision to assigned overnight staff.

working conditions/physical demands
this position will some minimal physical labor. the ability to walk up and down stairs, sit for periods of time and review computer generated reports or paper log books. this position is required to travel between the programs on an un announced basis to ensure staffing requirements are being met and licensing requirements are adhered to.
