sightsavers is looking for an events executive - a new role within our expanding global events team to help us plan, manager and deliver specific organisation-led events

location:uk remote - with occasional travel to haywards heath, london and potentially internationally when required

hours:this is a full-time/ part-time role with flexibility around hours worked and home working

about the role

sightsavers implements projects in over 30 countries in africa and south asia working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote the rights of people with disabilities. we are looking for an experienced and organised events executive to help us manage specific in-person and online events from the briefing and invitation process through to the successful delivery of the event itself. you will join at an exciting time for sightsavers as our events schedule grows to include increasing numbers of online events to support and promote our programmes. key duties will include:

managing the home team at an event to ensure that all logistics are handled in a professional manner, to time and within budget

working closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure that events meet specified objectives

overseeing the design and production of banners and other event materials

managing online events and ensure technical aspects are delivered to high standards

ensuring events meet all accessibility requirements

acting as key point of contact for external suppliers and venues where appropriate

supporting the global events manager by carrying out specific tasks relating to larger, high-profile events e.g., guest list management, researching venues and suppliers etc.

supporting the head of global events and major giving communications by carrying out specific tasks relating to stewarding and / or engaging celebrities or ambassadors or celebrity-related campaigns and initiatives.

please note that there will be some elements of manual handling to this role, including erecting banners, exhibits and carrying equipment. it will also require some flexibility around hours worked in advance of and during events and some international travel. whilst most of this role can be carried out from home, there are times when we ll need you to travel to london (we will pay for this) and potentially our programme countries too.

this role can also be worked on a part-time basis, a minimum of 21 hours per week with a pro rata salary (0.6 fte). ideally worked days would include wednesdays but this isn t essential

this is an ideal opportunity to build on your existing events experience. we do not expect you to have prior international events experience, but you will need strong prioritisation and logistical skills. to succeed in this role, you will need demonstrable experience in an events management / events delivery role, including managing online events as well as:

event management skills

diplomatic stakeholder management skills

organisation skills

negotiation skills

project management skills

time and budget management skills

attention to detail and accuracy

ability to travel

excellent communication skills

research skills
