it infrastructure manager plans and coordinates the installation, testing, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the core site infrastructure which includes but is not limited to the following: physical network (wired and wireless), servers (physical and virtual), personal computers, printers, telephone communications (including mobile phones), and all associated hardware and software.

  • maintain physical network, make recommendations to increase network stability and security
  • oversee the management of the vmware/san environment, including monitoring performance, capacity planning (server and san), allocation of san resources, creation of virtual servers, plan and execute upgrades to the vmware software and/or the physical servers including the san hardware, etc.)
  • oversee the management of all virtual servers that directly support the shop floor systems and office environments, including linux and windows servers. 
  • execute operating system upgrades, patches, and fixes to insure supported releases of all system software
  • oversee the administration of the ibm db2, sql server, and mysql relational databases for site and, sometimes for all 5 of the north american plants
  • responsible for testing the ability to recover our shop floor systems at our disaster recovery site
  • maintain reliable backups of the various systems and databases  
  • manage all site-specific software licenses
  • provide annual budget requirements for the site infrastructure to the site it manager
  • manage the maintenance/repair of the data center building including security, backup generator, fire suppression.
  • experience 

  • bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 5 years acting in a management role administering a vmware environment.
  • manufacturing experience required 
  • cisco networking and windows server administration is preferred 
  • mcse certification is a plus
  • strong linux knowledge
  • expert vmware knowledge.
  • knowledge of java jee application servers (jboss eap preferred)
  • knowledge of ibm db2 and microsoft sql server administration.
  • strong knowledge of local area network administration.
  • hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
