the tax analyst will support in the accurate and timely preparation of all vat and corporate tax returns for the finning uk & ireland group as well as support the tax and treasury manager day-to-day in providing tax advice and risk management mitigation for the business in line with internal controls procedures covering tax and treasury.
job description:
major job functions:
preparation of uk and ireland indirect tax filings, including vat. prior experience of vat return preparation desirable (25%)
supporting tax and treasury manager in the preparation and timely submission of corporate tax returns for all uk & ireland group entities including liaison with local tax authorities (25%)
update through the direction of tax and treasury manager local transfer pricing reports for uk and ireland as well as support in the preparation of information for international tax reporting obligations of finning international re country by country reporting and transactional reporting (10%)
supporting the tax and treasury manager in providing tax advice to the wider business, and identification of acceptable planning opportunities (including support to subsidiary group entities) and projects like research and development claims (10%)
ensuring tax adherence to bill 198 and internal control requirements of the group, with tax risk managed appropriately through the business by supporting senior accounting officer signoff procedures and development of improved procedures and controls (10%)
assist with interpretation and analyses of new tax laws to optimize their impact to the company s operations (5%).
support in day-to-day treasury administration re resolving issues/queries with banking provider, processing manual payments, compliance to payment practices in line with bill 198 controls (10%).
ad hoc support for import and export customs controller (5%).
cover for tax and treasury manager as appropriate.

excellent technical and analytical abilities

ability to analyze taxation rules and legislation thoroughly and accurately
excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
strong business acumen and judgement
develop and identify new and innovative processes or efficiencies
strong computer skills required, in particular microsoft excel, word and power point
knowledge of sap erp system - desirable
knowledge:
uk indirect taxes (vat and customs)
uk corporate tax - desirable
roi corporate tax - desirable
experience of supporting the technical research of tax rules particularly covering corporate tax and vat - desirable
basic understanding of transfer pricing - desirable
stays abreast of changes in regulations to ensure timely compliance
education & experience:
university business or another relevant degree
training towards a professional tax or accounting qualification (qualified att or training towards cta preferred)
2+ years of corporate tax or indirect tax experience
