i’m looking for a caring, patient and reliable carer/personal assistant who can start as soon as possible. i’m a woman in her mid-40s, a wheelchair user and i work full-time. i’m paralysed from the neck down so i need assistance with most tasks and i employ a team of carers/pas to enable me to live independently. the job involves personal care (eg helping to get me up in the morning, putting me to bed, toileting), typing emails, preparing food, feeding, general housework, accompanying me on trips out and shopping, among other things. there is moving and handling involved so you need to be physically robust. i have two pas with me during the day and we operate a ‘hour on duty, hour on call’ system so you will have plenty of time during the day to have a rest, study, watch television, make phone calls and do tasks for yourself.

hours: sundays 9am to 10.30pm. the exact finishing time will vary according to what i’m doing in the evening. if you help me later than 10.30pm you will be paid overtime and i’m happy to pay for you to have a cab home, if you need it. if you would prefer not to work every sunday then i’m open to the idea of you doing a job share with someone else.

pay: £162 gross per sunday shift. now and again you may have the chance to earn extra pay by covering other pas’ annual leave.

annual leave: you will be entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday per year. there may also be other days when you are not needed but you will still be paid.
