east metropolitan health services (emhs) are seeking to establish a pool of flexible and experienced, perioperative nurses to fill a number of positions across three metropolitan hospitals located in perth, western australia.

this is a recruitment pool for permanent full time, permanent part time, fixed term full time or fixed term part time appointments based on skills/experience of the candidate and service delivery needs. fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

area profile: east metropolitan health services (emhs) provides essential health care services to one of the largest catchment areas within perth; offering excellent career development opportunities.

emhs, incorporates the armadale health service (ahs), bentley health service (bhs) and royal perth hospital (rph) each with a unique and interesting array of perioperative services across all three sites.

armadale health service have 7 operating theatres providing the opportunity to specialise in gynaecological and obstetric services; paediatric surgery and endoscopic procedures. applicants with ent, plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery and vascular experience are also strongly encouraged to apply. the team at ahs are friendly and you will be supported through a collegial working environment. as a perioperative nurse with ahs you will work across both theatre and recovery units on a rotational roster including appropriately remunerated morning, afternoon, nights, weekends and on call shifts.

bentley health service have 3 operating theatres providing both surgical and diagnostic procedures to the community. conveniently located 10 kilometres from perth cbd this facility is a popular place to work with good community access to day-care facilities, public and private schools. bhs is an inclusive workplace which provides a great community feel. you will enjoy the varied and clinical caseload with a variety of diagnostic and day procedures, ophthalmological, general surgery (including colorectal and breast), urological and orthopaedic surgeries. daytime rosters are available monday to saturday and on call shifts in the future if service demands change.

royal perth hospital is the premier tertiary site and western australia's longest serving hospital conveniently located in the perth cbd and experiences the second biggest trauma workload in australia. with 15 operating theatres, and an extensive list of surgical specialities rph run an extensive rotational orientation program to all new staff, regardless of their level of experience. this supportive program provides an excellent foundation for perioperative nurses to every facet of the department and will require staff to work weekday morning shifts initially. as the rotation progresses staff will then be rostered for afternoon, weekend, night shifts and on call. we are a family friendly department and strive to accommodate shift requests and a work life balance, however flexibility is required in order to meet demands of the department.

what we are looking for: an ideal applicant would be a flexible team player with a minimum of 12 months of perioperative experience and is able to demonstrate practice in accordance with ehms values of kindness, respect, collaboration, integrity, excellence & accountability. preference will be given to applicants with australian, nz, uk/ireland, usa/canadian or hong kong hospital and tertiary level hospital experience.

applicants must be willing to participate in a rotational shift work roster and on call shifts may be required from time to time.
