job summary:
the fabrication manager – mezzanine department is responsible for the efficient utilization of the mezzanine team to fabricate standard and custom mezzanines while maintaining accuracy and quality. this position reports to the operations manager and is responsible for the entire workflow of the mezzanine department.
supervisory responsibilities:
• oversees the daily workflow of the welder(s), fabricator(s), and drill line operator(s) of the mezzanine department.
• schedules and organizes personnel to ensure proper staffing.
• manage, coach, and lead a team of 5-10 employees.
• hires and oversees the training of new mezzanine department personnel, including welders, fabricators, and drill line operators.
• handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy, with assistance from the hr manager and operations manager.
duties/responsibilities:
• supervise 5-10 employees in the daily activity of mezzanine production, including welding, drill line operation, metal fabrication, and assembly.
• ensure mezzanine production accurately follows the blueprint drawings and bill of material.
• communicate with the engineering department to ensure that mezzanine drawings and bills of material are accurate and troubleshoot any discrepancies as necessary.
• collaborate with warehouse and receiving to ensure accurate material is delivered to the mezzanine department in a timely manner.
• collaborate with operations manager(s) on performance evaluations, merit increases, and disciplinary procedures.
• ensure a safe and clean working environment.
• perform other duties as related.
education and experience:
• 3-4 years supervisory or team lead experience required.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
• high school diploma or equivalent required.
• fabrication experience required.
required skills/abilities:
• excellent communication and management skills.
• ability to fully understand mezzanine blueprints.
• ability to read and use a tape measure.
• forklift ability and experience.
physical requirements:
• must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
• must be able to traverse and access all areas of the warehouse
