we are currently looking to recruit an experienced customs clearance compliance manager to join our ever-growing supply chain team which are based predominantly in leeds area.

we are on the lookout for an individual with a proven background in customs clearance with the experience of working within customs import and/or export previously. someone who is comfortable dealing with the agencies and regulations involved and all areas of freight customs.

key responsibilities:

responsible for all import and customs compliance and training for the import teamto ensure full compliance (entering through to audit) of customs documentation for sea, air & road freight shipmentsutilising knowledge of customs tariffs, cpc codes (customs procedure code) and security declarations to ensure shipment are cleared in a timely mannersupport and advise the business on all international import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon by brexit. the ideal candidate will have a customs clearance background in either road, air or sea freight and a good knowledge of customs systems, hmrc regimes and query resolutionto advise the business and generate plans to mitigate the risks and take opportunities from brexit and other geopolitical and legislative changeto ensure the business is consistently compliant with all hmrc processes and any changes to legislation are implemented throughout the businessidentify areas of potential compliance vulnerability and risk, along with corrective action plansrepresent and respond to enquiries from customs and other government agenciesmanage and provide day to day work direction to the shipping team to ensure the import process is executed properly along with management of the import/export supply chain customer service team to ensure customers’ orders are managed through from order to deliverymanagement of documentation to successfully complete all import duties and processesuse sound personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles that may occurundertake individual performance appraisalsonboarding, inducting and continued training of the team
you should have experience of working with relevant import / export authorities previously and be comfortable with customs compliance as an example. previous experience of customs clearance, cpc codes, tariffs and other declarations is needed within this role as well as being a proactive self-starter with good communication skills, both with internal and external stakeholders.
