youth worker hours: 25 -37 hrs including 3 evenings sessions per week location: central beds with potential support in herts and/or cambs rate: gbp14.65 p/hr umbrella. paye available summary our client, a charity supporting poverty and environmental challenges in local communities for an experience youth worker in the bedfordshire area. the purpose of the role is to deliver an innovative range of youth-focused services within, bedfordshire, cambridgeshire and hertfordshire. to help young people develop as individuals and strengthen their local community. deliver projects to a high standard, on time and within budget. the post includes leading evening delivery sessions as well as daytime youth work. (the post will require a large proportion of work outside normal office hours during evenings and at weekends for which time in lieu will be given. the trust operates a flexible working system). primary responsibilities 1. lead the planning and delivery of evening and holiday period youth sessions within a variety of settings, delivering an innovative, high quality range of activities and support to young people considering their individual needs. 2. participate in the planning and delivery of youth outreach and detached work and the development of appropriate projects responding to the needs identified including for young people not in employment, education or training. 3. support the development and delivery of a range of school-based programmes supporting the development of individual young people particularly those with greatest need and those at risk of exclusion. 4. support the planning and delivery of 121 needs led support for young people and link them into wider youth provision and support as appropriate. 5. encourage and enable young people to participate in a range of opportunities. 6. facilitate young people s learning and their personal and social development and respond to individual and group needs, which include issues affecting young people, promoting self-awareness and self-esteem. 7. manage a varied workload and work well in a team to ensure that all projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget, through efficient project management, monitoring and evaluation. 8. within specific projects manage sessional youth workers, volunteers and student placements including delivering inductions, supervisions and recording hours. 9. build effective partnerships with other agencies such as the youth service, schools, voluntary agencies, police, health authorities, businesses, local authorities and local communities. 10. to deliver training and development activities for young people to enhance their skills, confidence and future prospects. essential jnc youth work qualification or relevant youth work experience experience working with challenging and/or at risk young people delivery of youth work in different settings e.g. club / schools / detached experience working in partnership with other agencies e.g. local authorities, police, community groupts interest and understanding of local community and environmental issues must have a valid driving licence you will require a dbs on the update or within 12 months in order to apply
