working a shift pattern of 2 days, 2 nights, and 4 off. we offer the following:

the primary role of a multi skilled engineer is to provide engineering support to our bakery in shaftesbury, dorset - to ensure the plant and machinery are available and reliable. you will assist in the reduction of plant downtime, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support health and safety and project work. you will proactively work to reduce plant downtime through due diligence and corrective maintenance.

duties and responsibilities:

to ensure planned and reactive maintenance is carried out to the required standard and to schedule. fault find, fix, repair machinery and plant, safely to standard within time.

to be able to coordinate and cooperate with production supervisors on a day-to-day basis, to ensure the smooth running and availability of plant and equipment.

to actively support and engage in continuous improvement projects and ensures the sustainability of these activities through the promotion of best operational practices.

work alongside external contractors and supervise whilst on-site at all times.

continuous promotion of best h&s practice, whilst proactively helping to reduce functional accident statistics.

to undertake project and capital works assigned to you, ensuring they are delivered to schedule. support audit work being carried out (contractor control, housekeeping, ppm, etc.).

support the prioritizing, organising, and planning of weekend maintenance work, production cover, and project work as appropriate, providing stand-in management cover over weekends if required.

skills:

proven ability to work at pace and to tight deadlines.

both electrical and mechanical engineering experience preferably within food manufacturing or fmcg with a recognised qualification.

excellent communication skills at all levels & ability to influence and work well with others in a friendly manner.

good standard of general education (including maths & english).

ability to work individually, without constant supervision, and with a sensible degree of flexibility to your approach.

essential - basic microsoft office skills.
