an amazing opportunity has arisen for an experienced freelance svq assessor to join a well establish svq centre who are committed in delivering a high-quality service ensuring our candidates meet their potential. gm training was established in 2009 and continues to grow throughout scotland

you will be required to support people working towards scottish vocational qualification in health & social care levels 2, 3 & 4 (scqf 6-7–9–10)

you will need to ensure that applicants meet the standards needed to achieve these qualifications and will identify skills that people have and focus on areas that they need to improve.

you will be responsible for conducting assessments during the candidates working day and provide feedback about standards. meet internal verification & qualification approval.

deliver gm training’s unique delivery method ensuring candidates receive full support through-out their award, meeting timescales set out by gm training & stake holders.

good communication skills required ensuring feedback to candidates on a weekly basis and contribute to maintaining the outstanding reputation of gm training.

key tasks and responsibilities

the following provides an overview of the main duties that the svq assessor/verifier will undertake however this is not exhaustive.

· to undertake candidate induction and ensure that correct paperwork is completed

· to identify and support candidates who require assessment arrangements

· to assess candidate evidence against the national standards.

· to record assessment decisions and provide feedback to candidates on submitted evidence.

· to discuss candidate assessment arrangements with colleagues to ensure a standardised approach.

· to attend and participate in standardisation meetings.

· to maintain a cpd record and make this available to sqa’s external quality assurance staff on request.

· to participate in any assessment appeal as indicated in the centre appeals procedure.

· to attend and participate in any visits by sqa quality assurance staff, as required.

· to facilitate and support assessors to meet on a regular basis.

to assist assessors in the standardisation of assessment evidence and sharing of best practice.

· to complete internal verification reports and summary sheets. (iv role)

essential qualifications/requirements

experience of working in the health & social care sector.

svq vocational qualification at scqf l7 in social services healthcare.
svq qualification in assessment i.e d32 & d33 or a1 or l&d9dilevel 3
svq level 3 or above.
achieved relevant external/internal verifier award for svq or be working towards it d34 or v1 or l&d 9di and l&d11 or level 4 certificate in leading the iqa of assessment processes and practice (however gm training will provide support in successful applicants in gaining this award)

**please note that travel throughout the central belt will be required in this role therefore a full driving license is required**
