our client, based on the outskirts of leeds, has been established 25 years and is the market leader in the manufacture of furniture for the hospitality industry. they manufacture and fit out hotels with bespoke furniture for clients such as hilton, sheraton, ihg, marriott & hard rock.
the company operates within a dynamic and fast paced environment & the business is experiencing great growth. they are looking for an ambitious graduate to join the buying department.
job purpose
the graduate trainee buyer will be responsible for buying a range of services within the company and managing new and existing suppliers.
responsibilities include but not limited to:
assist head of purchasing with resourcing processordering materials for factory production on daily basisnegotiate prices and terms for existing stock ranges and new productssource products from existing and new suppliersensure products procured meet required qa requirements and are certified appropriatelymanage the critical path ensuring all orders are arriving on timechasing up overdue ordersdeal with supply chain issues as they ariseensure that a supplier database is maintained with up to date details, product information and pricingforecasting stock requirements and placing orders to ensure stock levels are maintainedmonitor inventory levels and re-ordering accordingly and in line with demand
skills & qualifications
educated to degree level (does not need to be buying specific)ability to plan and prioritize workload to meet deadlines, work on own initiative and identify, analyse and solve problems.persuasive & commercially astuteprevious buying experience would be an advantage but not essentialappreciation of the need to get the job done on time and to the correct standardit literate - particularly excelcips qualification would be an advantageexcellent communicator both with internal and external customers
