seven resourcing are looking for a temporary housing options advisor to work in darlington. this position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying gbp13.44 - gbp16.34 per hour (paye and umbrella payment options are available).

the role:

to give housing advice about all available housing options. investigate claims of homelessness, potential homelessness and housing need. arrange temporary housing where required and to assist people to find appropriate and adequate accommodation.

key responsibilities:

provide information, support, assistance and advice to people in housing need, and anyone else, on all available temporary and permanent housing options. disseminate council policies and procedures as well as alternatives to council housing - such as housing associations, specialist providers and the private rented sector. to provide advice on house purchase, mortgages and finance, explain advertising, letting and sale of private accommodation, where appropriate.

conduct casework and negotiations with applicants, landlords and others to prevent the loss of accommodation and/or to arrange planned moves where required.

record claims of homelessness and interview homeless or potentially homeless people.

carry out home visits and basic inspections of property.

arrange temporary accommodation when required and as a part of a team of officers provide an afterhours service for those with nowhere to stay.

investigate circumstances, check details given, complete reports for each case and make recommendations where appropriate.

liaise and consult with other departments and statutory and voluntary agencies in areas of responsibility.

complete project work relating to the prevention and alleviation of homelessness and housing need.

applicant requirements:

qualifications: nvq level 2 in administration / housing or relevant field.experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.compliance: 2 years written references and proof of right to work in the uk.travel: clean uk driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.hours: 37.5 hours p/w. working with seven social care:
