Hr specialist - united states, minneapolis

the hr specialist is responsible for managing the administration of all human resource policies, procedures and programs. the position will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training and development, benefit administration, compensation, workers’ compensation, organizational development, recruiting, and employment and compliance with state and federal regulations.

 

specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

1. develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.

2. manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding.

3. plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the department. develops department goals, objectives, and systems.

4. implements and updates compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

5. develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness, information activities program, and cash flow.

6. conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career pathing program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements.

7. establishes and maintains department records and reports. participates in local leadership meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.

8. maintains company organization charts and employee directory.

9. evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

10. coordinates immigration matters for new and on-going foreign workers in the u.s.

11. performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

work experience and education requirements

 

- bs/ba in business administration with major in human resources, or

- (3-5) years experience in the hr field, or

- any appropriate combination of education and experience.

 

professional in human resources (phr) or senior professional in human resources (sphr) certification preferred.
