position description

as a research associate, you'll have the opportunity to support research activities in developing innovative and user-friendly products. we are looking for individuals who enjoy usability evaluation research and are excited to focus their work. the role requires in-depth knowledge of the usability methodology and experience conducting evaluation research in a fast-paced technology environment. 

 

overall responsibilities: 

  • conduct qualitative research in the lab and remotely that primarily utilizes usability methodology in an iterative research and design setting 
  • produce findings and recommendation reports from research for product teams. 
  • work with designers, product managers, engineers, and other ux researchers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.  
  • proactively communicate and collaborate with other team members. 
  • work independently with support from more senior research team members. 
  • be diligent, detail-oriented and have the ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.  
  • conduct usability research studies on the team app with the product team and other user experience researchers.
  • this role is primarily usability evaluation with some qualitative interviewing and does not involve doing end to end projects. this role involves working on a range of projects short-term.

  • skill/experience/education

    mandatory

  • m.a./m.s./phd. (completed) in human factors, cognitive psychology, hci/computer science, sociology, or other fields emphasizing human behavior.
  • 3 years of work experience in an applied research setting, preferably at least one year of experience conducting usability research in a technology environment on mobile app software
  • proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects
  • can work independently, prioritizing time between multiple projects and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
  • experience converting research findings into actionable insights for product design
  • basic working knowledge of statistics (spss, r, or other statistical packages)
  • desired

  • excellent observational, interpersonal, oral and written communication, and collaboration skills; ability to interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups
  • experience with google suite (e.g., slides, sheets, docs)
