Cnc operator - united states, milford
cnc operator is responsible for producing machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (cnc) machine while maintaining quality and safety standards.
essential duties and responsibilities
-proficient in machine operation
-loads raw materials and unloads completed parts
-required to operate multiple machines simultaneously
-performs inspection of own parts and co-workers work
-follows instructions when selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures
-uses measurement tools i.e. snap gage, digital calipers, micrometers, optical comparator and other measuring instruments
-adjusts tooling & work offsets
-minor editing of current program
-able to run select machines in department
-able to make adjustments to assure dimensions, tolerances and quality of parts
-utilizes qms, max & spc data bases as needed
-performs preventative maintenance on equipment including top-off lubricants
-cleaning responsibilities including equipment, chip removal, and work area
-follows established procedures as well as quality and safety standards
-maintains safe work environment
-works under supervision
- performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
qualifications
- good working knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, basic math and measuring instruments
- basic understanding of g&m programming codes
- good understanding of machining practices
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- strong problem solving skills
- motivated and shows willingness to learn
- team player who works in cooperation with others
- demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude.
education and/or experience
- hs degree or ged
- 1+ years machining experience preferred or a recent certificate in precision machining or related field
- experience operation swiss/citizen/doosan cnc machines strongly preferred
work environment
machine shop environment which may require the use of industrial hearing protection and/or other personal protective equipment
