an operations manager is needed to join a well-established quarry operator and natural stone manufacturing company. our client urgently needs an operations manager to join their team near peterborough. established in 1997, this is a prestige family-run business with circa 50 employees, operating three locations in the cambridgeshire/lincolnshire area. you’ll take responsibility for overseeing the operations and logistics.

this is a role for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable operations manager, taking responsibility for operations and logistics with line management responsibilities including the following:

liaising with and supervising the external health & safety advisororganising additional resources such as agency staffbeing the responsible health & safety person across all sites (currently 3 sites)working closely with the operations and purchasing assistant to oversee the purchasing of equipment, fuel and sundries, ensuring that favourable rates are negotiated wherever possiblemanaging the office team (including production manager), team of drivers and two maintenance engineersworking closely with the hr team to deal with staffing issues, identify and organise training as required and carry out annual appraisalsoverseeing recruitment of new staff including interviews and onboardingoverseeing and maintain holiday diary at head office for all staffworking with truck uk to ensure vehicle complianceresponsible for planning delivery routes and multidrop orderspreparing build specs, obtaining quotes and ordering new lorries and trailersoverseeing the work of the purchasing and logistics assistant

as an operations manager, you will have demonstrable experience, ideally in the construction industry (this isn’t essential). you’ll have strong people management skills as well as the ability to be well-organised in your approach to the role. it’s a busy and varied role that will give you the opportunity to really make a difference.

this is a full-time monday to friday role (core hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm).
