hmp drake & hmp foston ref: tad-221 does your experience of working in prisons/with people in custody or with convictions including delivering training and learning opportunities to disadvantaged learners? are you ready for a working life that's varied and rewarding and provides an opportunity for both personal and professional growth? then join us as a trainer/assessor and you could soon be putting your skills and experience to excellent use. a well-established charity that helps ex-offenders and disadvantaged people to move their lives forward, st. giles trust offers support to help people overcome any issue that might be holding them back. as part of the government's transforming rehabilitation programme, our principal task is to reduce reoffending and make our communities safer by working with prisoners as they progress through their sentence plan. what you will be doing: • recruiting, supporting, and developing individuals with the relevant skills and motivation to become peer advisors and working with colleagues to identify and secure suitable placements. • delivering a tailored training programme to enable learners to achieve city & guilds level 3 advice and guidance qualifications and complete work placements. • providing 1-2-1 support to peer advisers, thus helping them to make progress while contributing to the delivery of resettlement and other services. • working to ofsted and matrix standards and supporting the achievement of matrix accreditation. • coordinating promotion and marketing for the project, including using promotional materials, making presentations and attending forums and conferences. • maintaining accurate and appropriate records and providing qualitative and quantitative reports on progress against agreed outputs/outcomes. and what you will need: • an a1 assessors qualification or willingness to train towards one plus a proven ability to assess learners in work situations and help them achieve a level 3 qualification. • an understanding of the issues facing individuals with multiple and complex needs whilst in prison and on release and a positivity about the capacity of people to change their lives for the better. • a proven ability to deliver high quality training and support to groups and individuals, including adults who face barriers to learning, using a range of approaches. • a flexible but resilient approach and a flair for building effective working relationships with other staff, volunteers and various teams within a multidisciplinary prison environment. • a willingness to take responsibility for adapting to meet the changing needs of the service, sometimes with very little notice. • strong it skills and the ability to complete learner paperwork and use monitoring systems to record actions and outcomes and prepare reports in a variety of formats. • a clear understanding of safeguarding issues. as an organisation that works with children and adults at risk we are committed to safeguarding, protecting, and promoting the safety of our clients. an enhanced dbs check is required for all successful applicants. this appointment is subject to security clearance from the prison service. for this reason, we can only accept applications from candidates who could be fully cleared to work in this environment. in return you can expect a competitive salary and generous leave allowance, staff pension scheme, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice & counselling service, childcare vouchers, season ticket loan and much more besides. to apply please visit our website. closing date: 11pm, sunday 13 november 2022 interview: 24 november 2022. coventry office interviews will be arranged as suitable candidates are identified, so early application is strongly advised. we reserve the right to close this advert sooner than advertised subject to finding a suitable candidate. st giles will guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria set out in the job description for the vacancy.
