exciting opportunities have arisen within the medicine division at colchester hospital for highly motivated healthcare assistants to join the medical ward teams.

the healthcare assistant role provides excellent opportunities on a daily basis in increase your learning and knowledge while working with different disciplines of staff. our medical wards see patients with a variety of medical conditions and needs such as:

• infections including covid 19

• respiratory conditions, providing an opportunity to work with interventions to assist with making patients well or comfortable

• diabetes and complex needs with vascular problems

• tissue viability

• and many more

successful candidates will be required to work a range of long days and nights. you must be able to work a range of shifts to ensure clinical area are staffed safely and fairness to all staff.

please note you may be required to undertake a numeracy & literacy test as part of the pre employment checks.

you will be required to work a full shift rotation including weekends and bank holidays.

• to meet the direct and indirect care needs of patients under the delegation of a registered nurse.

• to assist patients with daily activities such as feeding, showering, toileting and other personal care.

• to ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with trust policies and guidelines.

• to work as an effective member of the nursing and wider multi-professional healthcare team.

candidates will be supported to complete the care certificate over the first 12 weeks.
