General council (attorney) - united states, ewa beach

primary duties, responsibilities, requirements

  • provide ceo and senior executives with legal guidance on general corporate risk areas
  • lead the company’s legal practice, based upon an understanding of the company’s business practice, goals, and direction
  • provide recommendations on the use of outside attorneys in variety of legal processes.
  • oversee the company’s legal expenses by being involved in the company’s legal issues and working directly or indirectly with outside legal counsel.
  •  

  • establish a collaborative working environment with each team/department
  • participate in status meetings and assist with legal issues that are raised in meetings.
  • manage legal practices:

  • residential and commercial development:  support development and retail team in the development of residential units and commercial spaces.  communicate with outside counsel as appropriate.
  • residential sales:  support sales and marketing team as needed; communicate with outside counsel on sales matters.  
  • commercial  operations:  support retail team in construction, development, leasing of retail spaces, business operation; work with outside counsel.  
  • land sale:  assist with sales of major land parcels including coordination with outside counsel on land use and operational matters and documentation . 
  • corporate:  assist with formation of new entities and jvs; manage corporate documents, corporate filings, resolutions and records.
  • manage litigation and external litigation counsel, as appropriate.
  • manage company intellectual property including registrations and renewals; track licensing.
  • any other legal related issues that president/evp request to review from time to time
  • other duties as assigned to support the organization’s need.

    minimum qualifications:

    10+ years of legal experience in private practice or in-house counsel experience.

  • real estate development and corporate experience
  • outstanding academic credentials, a strong work ethic, a logical and analytical thought process, excellent organizational, drafting, writing and research skills, as well as the ability to establish strong client and peer relationships
  • experience microsoft office software  
  •  

    required licenses/certifications:
