research company. this is a growing biotech company with state-of-the-art facilities. our client are the partner choice for a number of market leading brands within various biotechnology industries such as pharma, personal care & hygiene, consumer health, food industry and human & animal health. general responsibilities • generation of sales revenue from new customers. • the identification of new potential customers, building of relationships with potential new customers. • sale of new products. • identification of new market trends and opportunities. place in the organisation marketing and sales department. reports to the head of business development or the commercial director. if absent the tasks and responsibilities will be taken over by account managers, head of business development or commercial director. reports to head of business development or commercial director. authorisations • make quotations for commercial customers. • processing of complaint. • taking preventative and improvement actions result area 1 business development tasks and responsibilities • customer acquisition & business development. • identifies potential new customers based on a buyers profile which has been developed and agreed for each product line. • based on a clear business development plan, contacts and builds relationships with the selected customers. • develops a robust new customer acquisition sales funnel. • attends conferences and other industry related events. performed customer visits as required in the business development plan. • achieves the annual business development target. • identifies new developments and trends in the market and help convert these into new products. key performance indicators • achieve the sales revenue target set for new customers (new leads) • achieve the defined number of new target customers per product line result area 2 account management tasks and responsibilities • increase the sales revenue from new customers through the sale of first and second projects and further repeat sales. additionally through the sales of new products and cross selling of additional client products. • build up and maintain business relationships. following up leads within campaigns and agreeing collaborations to build up relationships. introduction of new products and services and new applications and establishment of new collaborations with the r&d department. • strategic account plans: identification of high potential target customers, qualification of those accounts and the development and execution of a strategic account plan including clear annual targets. • increase sales revenue. • ensure sufficient contact with new customers and budget for the following year. transfer the account to the respective account manager over a gradual period of time (ideally within 12 months of first contact) to assure healthy account transfer. key performance indicators • for each new account ensure that there is a second project defined and agreed. • achieve sale of more than one product line with all accounts which are managed for more than 6 months. • transfer all accounts to account managers after a maximum of 12 months. • achieve the agreed sales revenue target per account and the overall target on a yearly and monthly basis. reviewed per month using opportunity funnel in the crm. • achieve the agreed sales revenue target due to cross-selling of additional products and product lines. • achieve the agreed level of contact with management and executive levels in each account. result area 3 market research and intelligence tasks and responsibilities • collect strategic information gather strategic market information regarding customers, products and competitors. • identify market trends and translate them into new product requirements identifies new developments and trends in the market and help convert these into new products. • identify and communicate the customer's needs and requirements identify potential new products and services through the evaluation of current products and also new needs and problems faced by customers. • attend conferences and similar events and generate-follow up leads until turned into a new client. key performance indicators • propose at least 3 new products per year based on market trends and intelligence. • communicate the customer's needs in the context of clear product requirements during the weekly and quarterly sales meeting. • report during weekly and quarterly sales meetings on market trends & competitors. result area 4 adminstration and reporting tasks and responsibilities • administration ensure that the most resent contact details, e-mails and other communication with customers is up to date in the crm system. ensure that all sales opportunities are accurately entered and up to date in the crm system. • reports report the subjects details above in a clear format to the head of business development or the commercial director on a regular basis in a suitable format. key performance indicators • all opportunities are entered and up to date in the crm system (efficy) • all opportunities with a target date within the next two weeks have a scoring chance above 80% professional competences knowledge & skills education academic (msc or phd) level in a relevant life sciences discipline. experience at least 3 years experience in a commercial function (business development or account management or product development). knowledge relevant technical knowledge (genomics, molecular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics) market knowledge relating to the markets and products where client is active excellent knowledge of english, both spoken and written.
