reporting to the director of treasury and strategic planning, our client are seeking an experienced head of procurement who will be the subject matter for whg and lead on procurement ensuring strategic aims are met. experience of managing a procurement team ensuring processes and systems are in place to meet regulatory compliance.

job description

developing a strategic approach to the procurement of a broad range of commercial goods, services and works through the design and delivery of the procurement strategy and the ongoing sourcing programme. to lead the development and implementation of best practice procurement process and techniques to support tendering activity, supplier performance management and compliance to public contracts regulations. to drive continuous improvement, value for money and compliance through working in collaboration with colleagues. challenging of existing practices, actively seeking ways to achieve better outcomes and ensuring whole life costs are taken into consideration. to develop effective collaborative relationships with colleagues, suppliers and any other relevant organisations, to ensure timely and effective delivery of strategic, critical and operational contracts. to lead and motivate the procurement team and ensure that they receive appropriate support, training and development to achieve their potential. promote the value of procurement across the organisation, identify and address skills gaps and learning needs in order to further develop the function and its contribution to the organisation. ensure document management systems are in place (e-procurement, contracts register etc.) to provide an efficient and compliant procurement service. embed social value into procurement activity, ensuring that the environmental impacts of contracts are considered and monitored. lead on the development of a sustainable procurement strategy to support whg's sustainability agenda the successful applicant

full membership of the chartered institute of purchasing & supply (mcips) or equivalent qualification/experience thorough knowledge of procurement legislation knowledge of sustainability factors in contracting and experience in using sustainable procurement frameworks experience in managing multiple complex procurement projects simultaneously experience of successfully operating within a regulated context and ensuring that processes and systems meet the requirements of the regulator experience in the line management of individuals and teams in a procurement and contract management environment high standard of written and presentational skills excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills what's on offer
