Accounts payable assistant - part time - united kingdom, london

firstly, please note: this is a 3 days/week part time role so, for clarity, a pro rata of annualised salary range shown here is the rate available.

question: given that most of the many other london accounts payable vacancies have similar duties, why do so many ads just list them, rather than tell you why you might want to apply? in our case for this new and additional role, let's start with that: most importantly a friendly and collaborative overall team of staff (described publicly as "world class" only last week) within a leading uk trade association with both a respected national and international reputation. as we often say in our vacancies, why work for just one company when in a trade association you can influence your entire sector for the better?

although of course, you will be using your experience in accounts payable as you would expect, within that relatively small overall headcount, it is inevitable that you will support other colleagues outside finance as and when needed, especially in respect of hr and hr related transactions - variety is hopefully part of the interest.

those actual specific duties? they include:

- receiving and logging invoices, as well as maintaining and updating the accounts payable ledger plus payroll management. this will include the financial aspects of other hr related transactions, such as expenses and benefits.

- raising purchase orders and keeping relevant logs updated, together with ensuring all supplier invoices are correctly electronically filed, and scheduling monthly/fortnightly bacs runs.

- handling supplier queries by phone and email and resolving them

- reconciling supplier statements and reviewing aged creditors report

- receiving and reviewing expense claims before processing them.

what are we looking for in you?

- experience of accounts payable - we recognise that quality of experience can outweigh quantity alone.

- experience of using sage line 50 and the most common microsoft applications

- good general administration, planning and organisation skills, plus the understanding of the need for confidentiality (including gdpr experience), and along with good time management, particularly when set against deadlines.

finally it will come as no surprise, given the opening comments, that this person will be a good team participant and clear communicator as well as being able to work independently.

please note: we are looking at this new role as 3 full working days a week (flexibility on which ones) based out of our head office in victoria, london.
