Position title: procurement managerindustry: manufacturingjob summary:the procurement manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process within the manufacturing organization. this includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and supplies to support production schedules. the procurement manager works closely with various departments such as production, inventory management, and finance to optimize procurement strategies and achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.responsibilities:strategic sourcing:develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the availability of high-quality materials at competitive prices.identify and qualify suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate terms and contracts.vendor management:establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and implement improvement plans as needed.conduct regular vendor evaluations and assessments to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.contract negotiation:negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements with suppliers to optimize terms and conditions.ensure contracts comply with legal and regulatory requirements and mitigate risks for the organization.inventory management:collaborate with inventory management teams to forecast demand, maintain optimal inventory levels, and minimize stockouts.implement inventory control measures to reduce carrying costs and excess inventory.cost management:analyze procurement data and trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or delivery schedules.process improvement:continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline procurement operations.cross-functional collaboration:collaborate with internal stakeholders such as production, engineering, quality assurance, and finance to align procurement activities with organizational goals.provide procurement expertise and support for new product development initiatives.skillsqualifications:bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field. master's degree preferred.proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the manufacturing industry.strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.in-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing strategies, and vendor management.proficiency in using procurement software and erp systems.excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.certifications such as certified professional in supply management (cpsm) or certified supply chain professional (cscp) are a plus.
