this unit assistant position is full time nights.

schedule: 7:00pm - 7:00am, 3 12 hour shifts per week. days of the week vary with every other weekend rotation.

location: ngmc gainesville medical icu iii s5e

department overview:

s5e medical intensive care unit iii (micu iii) is a 34-bed critical care unit that provides comprehensive care requiring intense monitoring and nursing care.

as a critical care unit, care is provided for a wide variety of illnesses, including but not limited to:

covid-19 positive patients and symptomatic persons under investigation (pui) respiratory failure hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation pneumonia

therapies in the micu may include peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and conventional ventilation support. monitoring includes central venous pressure, pulmonary artery, arterial line, electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, and apnea monitoring.

job summary:

a non-licensed, staff member who is trained to be flexible in a variety of nursing support and transport duties. performs a variety of clinical tasks including, but not limited to nursing units, cleaning and stocking of patients’ rooms and other unit areas, and direct patient care within the scope of defined practice. functions under the direct supervision of the shift primary nurse. cares for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to national patient safety goals as outlined in policy and procedures.

minimum qualifications:

high school diploma or ged current georgia certified nursing assistant or successful completion of fundamentals of nursing course if a nursing student must have basic life support certification through the american heart association  previous experience in patient care setting preferred but not required
